HVAC Engineers  

Role :
  • You will be responsible for the maintenance and installation of hvac systems
  • This is a field-based role covering the London region and in it you'll report to the M&E Project Manager
  • Providing service, maintenance and installation, of air conditioning systems
  • Covering Watford and surrounding areas
  • Working in Commercial and Industrial sites
  • Reporting to the M&E Project Manager you will be responsible for visiting customer sites, commissioning, repairing and maintaining HVAC Systems and providing support services to a range of residential and commercial/industrial buildings
  • Site visits for service engineer work
  • Second Line Technical Support
  • Problem Solving
  • Liaison with other Service Engineers on Site
  • Delivery of Technical product awareness training
  • Customers & site engineers
Responsibilities :
  • Predominantly service based with some installations
  • Split between AHU's, chillers and air conditioning
  • Carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment faults (services and maintenance of air conditioning, refrigeration and air handling units)
  • Diagnosing and repairing breakdown problems, fault finding and repair work
  • Responding to callouts and cover emergencies as required
  • Ensuring a customer focus within all areas of operational activities
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative repairs on existing systems, commercial / domestic gas maintenance, service and repair work
  • Maintain a good working relationship with clients and work in liaison with other departments as required providing support and assistance at all times
  • Consider cost implications when carrying out designated tasks to minimise wasted time, materials and costs
  • Adhere to the duties required for the role within the Health and Safety policy
  • Customer & Engineer Training as and when required
  • Undertake ad hoc duties as and when required
  • Group, Site and customer visits with overnight stay as and when required, including overseas
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • You will possess a strong mechanical aptitude along with a dynamic, hardworking attitude and the ability to think on your feet and get the job done!
  • Experience in pumps (such as Grundfos, Lowara or Wilo etc) will be a definite advantage
  • Minimum qualification HNC in engineering, preferably building services, however mechanical or electrical engineering qualifications will also be considered for the right candidate
  • This candidate must be accommodating and flexible in terms of their availability. As they may have to travel with short notice
  • To deliver operational FM excellence across all Merton Schools. The Job holder will be mobile but centered around the Merton area and will be required to assist at out of area schools and maybe the wider school’s portfolio.
  • A ‘’ hands on role ‘’including Maintenance, Repairs, Projects and Installation Works, lifecycle, and management of Technical services suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • To take a leading role in the repair and maintenance of all HVAC and gas systems across all contracted buildings
  • To undertake reactive repairs to all HVAC and Gas systems in line with site KPI’s and ensuring mobile CMMS function is kept up to date
  • Monitor the environmental conditions throughout the store and make necessary changes as required to maintain comfortable conditions
  • Monitor the BMS system and associated plant to maintain optimum performance
  • Operate and undertake 1st line fault finding of control panels, air handling plant, Chillers, pumps, motorised dampers, control valves and the like
  • Ensure that any works are completed in a timely manner, and that the Store environmental conditions and controls meet the associated SLA and are optimised for shift handover
  • Manage and complete all assigned Planned and Reactive Workorders in line with the associates SLA and / or KPI, this is to include the entire sign off process
  • Undertake planned and reactive maintenance to the BMS system and associated equipment / Plant. (control panels, air handling plant, Chillers, pumps, motorised dampers, control valves and the like)
  • Report all issues with regards to the BMS system to the HVAC Technical Manager
  • Carry out small project installations and programme onto the BMS system
  • Respond to the daily calls directed by the facilities help desk
Qualifications & Experience :
  • Experience required in the Installation of Mechanical pipework, valves, commissioning sets etc. CW, HW, FCUs, AHUs
  • Trade specific CSCS required
  • F-Gas preferred but not required
  • City & Guilds Qualified
  • IPAF, PASMA preferred but not essential as can be organized through the company
  • Experience with Air Conditioning preferred but not necessary
  • Plumbing experience beneficial
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Conducting fault finding tests on equipment
  • Communicating with clients
  • Must hold 5 years industry experience as a minimum
  • Fgas Cat 1 2079
  • Full driving license
  • Experience with service, maintenance & repair
  • Proven working experience as a multi-skilled HVAC Engineer, minimum 5 years within the building services industry
  • Industry recognised Data installation qualification
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
  • Knowledge of lone working requirements
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to liaise with a diverse audience
  • Ability to work independently and use your own initiative to complete your workload
  • Root-cause analysis & decision-making ability
  • Current engineer license
  • Good standard of Health & safety knowledge and application
  • Full Clean UK driving licence held for a minimum of 2-years and with a maximum of 6 penalty points
  • Apprenticeship and/or Previous Work Experience on commercial and domestic gas/vented, unvented systems / AC refrigeration / solar / Ground source & air source heat pumps with a high standard of problem-solving experience
  • Electrical installation, inspection and testing
  • Knowledge of a wide range of manufactures equipment for installation, maintenance and fault finding
  • Knowledge of Chilled water and 4-pipe fan coil systems
  • Knowledge of basic Building management systems and their operations
  • Experience of working in a multi-site contract with a varied portfolio of plant and equipment specs
  • The candidate MUST hold current statutory technical certification within core field for example City and Guilds Part 3 (Plumbing) Level 2 & 3 NVQ
  • Diplomas in Heating and Ventilation, commercial gas qualified COCN1, CDGA1, CORT1, TPCP1 ICPN1 and C&G Cat 1 2079-11
  • The candidate MUST be highly experienced, time served and fully qualified tradesperson
  • Candidates should have a pro-active attitude and can be flexible in relation to duties and working hours
  • Demonstrable and strong organizational and planning skills and have the ability to prioritise and manage their time effectively
  • Have the ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Able to work effectively without supervision and rebound from setbacks and adversity when faced with difficult situations
  • To communicate effectively and timely is seen as essential and also have the ability to contribute to creating new and better ways for the organisation to be successful
  • The ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions
  • IT & systems literate, use of IT systems to provide/monitor data within the Quality Assurance and other management reporting systems
