Electrical Project Engineer  

Role :
  • Oversee and manage all technical aspects of preconstruction, design and build phases, into commissioning and handover
  • Managing all electrical subcontract packages including shell & core labour, residential fit-out labour, Fire Alarm, Security, Voice & Data, IRS (TV & Sat), etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring plant and materials are on order and deliveries are planned
  • Health & safety requirements are met and adhered to including the production and checking of RAMS
  • Experience required in checking and producing technical documents and drawings
  • Ensuring the work is planned, installed and tested to the highest quality with involvement in producing and maintaining the quality assurances and certification requirements of the specification
  • Reporting directly to the lead Project Manager, responsible for managing one or more supervisors, and working alongside the Mechanical Project Engineer ensuring all works are co-ordinated between the MEP team and other trades and offering support to team members when necessary
  • Producing and maintaining progress schedules for input into the PMs reports
  • Assisting the QS with commercial matters associated with the Electrical packages
Responsibilities :
  • Design review, build ability checks and validation
  • Value engineering of electrical package
  • Producing and responding to RFI's / Tech Subs
  • Procurement tender review
  • Site set up and subcontractor management
  • Overseeing and tracking performance and progress regarding scope of works, commissioning and quality plans
  • Sign off and management of ITPs
  • Developing and Producing Cost Plans
  • Preparing Electrical Services Estimates
  • Writing Scopes of Work and Specifications
  • Developing and Producing Contract Health & Safety Plans
  • Assessing and Preparing Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Preparing Installation and Commissioning Programmes
  • Managing Contract Pre-commencement activities
  • Procuring Contract Materials & Equipment
  • Selecting and Procuring Contract Labour and Sub-Contractors
  • Managing the Contract online with Contract Restraints and Timescale
  • Preparing and Managing Contract Variation Accounts
  • Overseeing Testing and Commissioning activities, Client Demonstrations and Witnessing
  • Ensure the Electrical Works Package is running smoothly at all times and managing the workload of employees on site
  • Working alongside the Electrical Project Manager to ensure deadlines are being met
  • Create a work plan which identifies the activities needed for project completion. Work out the resources required to complete the project on time
  • Create material take offs and equipment schedules for procurement
  • Prepare the work tasks for the supervisors
  • Review design submissions
  • Prepare any risk assessments
  • Issue Electrical technical submittals
  • Compile test pack, FTOP’s and O&Ms and present for approval
  • Undertake any additional training required within your job role 
Qualifications & Experience :
  • Degree or HNC in Building Services or Electrical Engineering
  • Understanding and ability to lead technical aspects of Preconstruction
  • Good man management and client facing skills
  • Residential project experience is a strong benefit
  • ONC/HNC/Degree Electrical Engineering
  • CSCS Card
  • Extensive experience within the MEP rail sector
  • Knowledge of Electrical design and construction techniques
  • HND in Electrical Engineering or Degree equivalent
  • 3rd level Qualification in Electrical Engineering / Building Services Engineering. SMSTS and CSCS
  • High level of communication skills with clients and subcontractors
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Engineer working for a MEP subcontractor
