Commissioning Engineer  

Role :
  • Production of daily shift reports
  • Completion of inspection and test plans
  • Marking up 'As built drawings'
  • Completing onsite commissioning
  • Provide detailed reports on issues identified
  • Supporting the site implementation team
Responsibilities :
  • Undertaking testing, small installations and commissioning of various fire and security systems
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time within programme and within budget
  • Processing and technically reviewing cost sheets to purchasing department
  • Planning and controlling labour and materials required to deliver the project
  • Ensuring all engineering paperwork is allocated to the engineers and following project competition ensure commissioning completed correctly
  • Provide technical expertise as required on projects
  • Attending site meetings as required
  • Line management of assigned engineers and sub-contractors
  • Managing job profitability of assigned projects and reporting into the Project Manager
  • Liaising with key clients to ensure programme deadlines are achieved whilst maintaining profitability, Health, Safety and quality to company requirements
  • To carry out commissioning on new project installs and takeover of fire alarm systems of maintenance
  • To carry out 2nd fix and commissioning on new project installations, and complete BAFE documentation to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for the commissioning of all fire alarm installation projects
  • Responsible for the documentation on project completion
  • Able to write/make changes to software (Johnssons, Tridium, Trend)
  • Carryout point to point testing on all plant
  • Able to complete functionality testing and integrated systems testing
  • Client facing when required for system witnessing
  • Able to track and report on progress through to project completion
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Liaise with all stakeholders and contractors as required to ensure a high quality service is delivered and a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved
  • Plan and organise your own daily work, ensuring work is complete in the allocated time
  • Carry out survey reports as required
  • Responsible for the delivery of planned commitments to the client, ensuring agreed KPI’s and service levels are being met
  • To maintain a high standard of customer service for all internal and external facing activities
  • To attend regular meetings
  • To comply with the company’s Health & Safety policy at all times and follow all related safe systems of work and risk assessments that are produced for the task
  • To undertake tasks as necessary to ensure the achievement of the project
Qualifications & Experience :
  • Detailed knowledge of the principles of BAFE SP203/BS5839
  • Relevant qualifications FIA/NSI/LPCB/C&G etc
  • Excellent inter-personal communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience working on fire alarm systems
  • Able to perform maintenance and commissioning
  • Relevant qualifications
  • Valid CSCS card
  • At least 2-3 years' experience within BMS commissioning
  • Experience with Johnssons, Tridum and Trend
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A driven and enthusiastic personality
  • Good technical knowledge of major systems and projects
  • Proven experience in the fire and security industry with experience of engineering projects across single and multiple site locations
  • Experience of gas suppression systems
  • Demonstrable technical experience
